  1. I'm going to be honest, i have no idea what this is about, but the world you've created is really, really interesting as well as the types of textures and mark making you used. how are you doing this for the final? whatever you do, make sure you keep the textures.

  2. Besides the lack of a third panel, I really like these. I'm not sure what the story is, but compositionally they are both very well thought out and rendered well. I like the second one the best, I think, because of the dark underground look to the bottom left corner.

  3. the style is great, it reminds me of superjail, especially the volcano image. i agree, i have no idea whats going on. i kinda like that, but then again this project is meant to have a narrative. Just becareful to make your lines straight in the first panel since you have a whole architectural thing going on as ooposed to the groovey environment of the second panel. Also its ambiguous if those clothes in the first panel are falling down or laying on the floor. if they are lying on the floor, make them much, much smaller.

  4. i can tell that these will look great when they are all put together, because you have a gift for composition! thanks for shading the entire drawings, it really helps to define the spaces in these. this kind of looks like what mc escher might have drawn as a kid (all love here, no offense whatsoever,) i think these have a really cool aesthetic. my only critique comes at the absence of the third drawing! please post it when you can, it'd be cool to see all three together!

  5. Again I might be projecting my own meaning, but I see this turn of the century gentleman deciding he wants to look at something in the future so he goes down the stairs to his time machine and "Bamf" he is in the future baby. Thats about all i can glean.

I'm loving the value shifts, some nice dark blacks as well as high whites is always good in my book. I'd simply shoot for a more defined - simpler narrative but think you have a real solid base to jump off of.

  6. P.s. - Sorry about the grammatical mistakes.

  7. As others are saying, good use of values. It really makes the viewer go through every part of the image. I also get the Escher feel to it, but kind of on crack.

I hope when you color it, you decide to go with just a few colors... otherwise things might get way too busy.

  8. i think the crazy perspectives work but i am a little confused on narrative. i second the idea of the escher feeling. i hope you take the color seriously so this dosnt appear too child like

  9. im drawn to the style your using as far as how flat the images are rendered but then the image itself has tons of dimension through the stairs and things. color will change this a lot for the better. although i enjoy the flat style with the landscape i don't know if it works so well for the figures, at least not so dramatically. Its very, Wheres Waldo

  10. I little confusing, but ok.

I think design is the strongest aspect of these. the first two are nice and look like they could really take off in a good way with well used color. the third one isn't as strong. the shapes don't seem to interlock as well and it doesn't have the same kind of rhythm.

your figures could use a little work.

  11. If you hadn't titled it the time machine, I would probably be pretty confused, but with it, I can kind of grasp my own interpretation of what's going on (though I am admittedly still a little confused). There's a lot going on. I think this may get overwhelming in color, so maybe step back from it now and then to make sure it doesn't get out of control. The last panel to me seems to be a little hard to connect compared to the other two, but I honestly and not sure why. Maybe its the block off at the top? I don't know. Also, the figures in the last seem rushed, and not as handled as the figures in the first. I also like how on the first one you can see the stairs going down and around.

  12. I agree with emily, without the time machine title I would have been totally lost. There's a lot of interesting moments going on in here but I feel like it's definitely overwhelming. Also the way you've composed things it's hard to tell which panels are big scenes and which ones are juxtapositions of images, perhaps clarify that as well?

  13. i somehow missed this one. It's a little busy but I like it. Great composition. Be careful not to get too crazy with the color.
