There's a little bit of subtext in each image so I'll explain the sort of sub-theme I was going for. In order of appearance:

Vast: it's a married couple's room (wedding picture on nightstand)
Deadly: open cabinet full of toxic chemicals in child's daycare center
Simple: contrast between Wal-Mart and the butcher's shop
Quiet: contrast between the noise an actual train going down the tracks would make
Intimate: all I could come up with was anthropomorphic trees
Cluttered: all the stuff the average family brings to the beach

  1. I love your simple and quiet pieces. The idea of the contrast between a noisy train and a silent track is very creative! My third pick for you would probably be intimate, though when I read the description I imagined trees more like - https://artzone.daz3d.com/azfiles/gallery/54/94/7ozzp1izzwbvcihuojjuw1rejzx4kp-full.jpg

  2. I wouldn't think of a room as vast, but with the space you created, it works well. Deadly is good, too. I like the spilling bottle, nice effect. I'm not that fond of simple, and I'm not sure why there's a WalMart there. It makes me think there's a purpose to it, but I can't think of what it would be in the "simple" prompt. Quiet is a nice image, but I think it would seem quieter without the train tracks (the tracks make me think of trains which are noisy, so I have a hard time imagining it's very quiet there). I think you could do a lot more with intimate, it's a little too simple and quiet, and I don't really like the composition. Maybe have a park where there is a sidewalk and you see a heart written in it, like they do with wet cement? (I know it's corny, but it would work.)

  3. i really like the concepts behind these pieces but maybe sneak in a few more objects or something to represent that more.

  4. I think Deadly, quiet, and cluttered are the best.
Hmm actually i don't get the simple and vast one. Deadly one has humorous them in itself. You could make it more sense by putting some children in the background. Quiet one just makes sense. For the cluttered, you could put more disarranged stuffs in it.

  5. These are all well thought out ideas, and very clear sketches!

Vast - Very interesting idea, and very well thought out! My only suggestion is to push it more extreme - really emphasize the wide open spaces of the floor, walls, an ceiling.

Deadly - This one is working for me. Ouch.

Simple - I'm not so sure about this - the joke is funny, but does it really evoke "simple"? The composition seems more standard than simple.

    Quiet - Very well done.

Intimate - This one reflects quiet, without getting intimate enough. I'd like to be closer, really see the texture and emotion of those trees.

Cluttered - A good idea, but not enough clutter! There are hundreds more things that could be strewn across that beach, so go wild!

  6. Ideas of each piece is very creative that I could not think of. Especially, deadly, simple, quiet ones are very striking. I also like composition of each piece. The deadly one is really scary ! I would like to see contrasting colors btw daycare center and the toxic chemicals.

  7. I am down with the hazardous chemicals the married couple's room and the beach. I find the trees to be trite and the wallmart/butcher's shop is sorta avoiding all the fun or interesting bits and relies too much on text. If you resolved those issues I would prefer it to the beach as it is a stronger idea. I love your concepts and think they could be brought to life with thrilling illustration (you may just be the man for the job). good luck

  8. I really like vast, quiet, and cluttered the most. I think for cluttered though you should zoom out a little to show more umbrellas. I just don't think its cluttered up enough. Quiet is funny. I think you had a really interesting take on all of them.

  9. I like the image of quiet but I think it might even work better as vast.
Cluttered works well and I think its a well drawn image. the Shadow is kinda wierd though.

for intimate what if there were hearts or something along those lines carved into the trees?

  10. The last one (simple?) is definitely the best.

The value scale and clean linework really define it. I don't know what medium you're planning to use, but I hope it's something that will allow you to embrace those qualities.

  11. I really enjoy all the ideas you've come up with however I feel as if vast and quiet could easily be each other and simple could do without the big store in the very back. Overall good job!

  12. Deadly- Great idea and even better execution. This could have been really hard to read from a different position, but having us inside the cabinet looking out was a nice touch

Quiet: Works great on its own, but when I read what you wrote about contrast it added some depth. Very nice.

Cluttered: Very clever. I never would have thought of the tacky clutter of the beach.

  13. i think all of these could be improved a lot if they were a little bit more rendered. ive seen you do some really detailed stuff and i wish you put a little more thought into these, but all of your ideas do work really well. your subjects make sense and i really like the perspective for the beach scene. i also really like the train track one. maybe add a sky to make it a little more interesting

  14. I love the perspective of deadly, the composition is the strongest. I also really like quiet. The others could use a little more rendering

  15. Your images for quiet, intimate and cluttered are all very charming. The two trees are really clever and I think that the railroad tracks are really working. You don't need explanations for the last three, the images are strong enough.
