Enviornment as character

  1. I don't know what's deadly about the deadly one. I think it would be nicer if you varied your settings a little, that way you could have more practice at different environments rather than being really good in one in different perspectives. I would recommend some outdoor scenes. Other than that, my favorites are intimate, vast, and simple.

  2. My favorite is vast, I think the weird perspective works really well here.
I think Cluttered would work really well if we could see part of the room and the bookshelf, instead of only books.

I like intimate but again i Think if it was zoomed out alittle more, maybe a head on perspective of the table and chairs against the wall would stress the point that its only one table and two chairs, nothing else is around. Just a thought, I think you should do this one though.

I think deadly is pretty clever. It works for the word but in a humorous way.

Perspectives on the first two weird me out a bit.

  3. I like the composition of the vast one. It's very clever. Also quiet and cluttered ones are good too. But I would like to see more dimension on each piece. They look quite flat.

  4. I don't really understand what is going on in the dangerous picture, maybe color would help but I think it should be a bit more obvious

  5. I like simple, vast, and intimate. Hmm actually I dont get the deadly one. But I think three I mentioned works well with composition and concept-wise. However perspective in vast one is little awkward.

  6. I agree, I'm not really sure what's deadly in the deadly one. I liked the idea of quiet being in a library, then I realized all your sketches are from a library? It was very creative of you to find aspects that fit all of the words! Intimate is nice and cluttered is good too, though I think you could take it a step farther with some books open and falling out, kind've haphazardly stacked into the shelves.

  7. i'm a little confused about which one is which but i do really like the one with the stack of books. maybe try adding some value

  8. deadly: add text to the sign and maybe focus more on the stairs
simple: fix the angle and maybe lose a book or two
quiet: given your library theme it doesn't really stand out as quiet
    vast: separate the book shelves
cluttered: I think a pile of books on the ground would help
    intimate: nice, very well done

  9. I like the idea for cluttered, but try playing with the composition a bit to make it less flat. Also, quiet for a library works great. My third would have to be deadly because I love the simplicity of the idea, clever yet fairly straightforward.

  10. these look more like rough sketches rather than final. maybe if you went into them and rendered them a little more than they could communicate a little clearer. also maybe change the setting up a little bit? it looks like everything takes place in a school or a library. My favorites are intimate, vast, and cluttered

  11. There's a cool graphic sensibility beginning to emerge in some of these, especially with the flatness of the bookcases in "vast" and "cluttered." That's what I like most about these, and what I think you should focus on most. Props for doing a theme, and for the little punch line on deadly. I don't know what medium you plan to use, but I wonder if collage or maybe gouache would produce a really excellent result.

  12. These sketches could be a lot clearer - both the drawings and the documentation. It's very difficult to make out the details in a few of them.

Deadly - Are these wet stairs? The composition took a while to figure out.

Simple - This looks good, you might not even need that shelf on the right.

Quiet - It's quiet because it's a library, but I'm not sure the other elements are working for you just yet. It's somewhere in-between using space to invoke quiet and using intimacy, choose one or the other.

Vast - This is a good idea, but push the perspective further. Get way down on the floor and have those bookshelves tower over us.

Cluttered - Other than the stack of books in the center, everything is very orderly. Get those books falling off the shelves - and get them all in different positions.

Intimate - This is very nicely done. It could use a bit more detail, to help make the intimacy richer.

  13. I like cluttered, but feel like its only the beginning and could use more elements. I love the library theme and feel like with a little more attention to detail the final three will work very well

  14. I like to think of this series as "library attitudes". Intimate is probably my favorite for it's more diagonal attitudes and slightly more challenging arrangement. The compositions are pretty unexciting so far but if you are going to stick to the straight ahead views and clean lines I would try to make them as precise and accurate as possible. good luck

  15. Simple, vast, and quiet are my favorite. I think that quiet could use one or two more book shelves. Vast has a nice sense of being overwhelmed. I like that. Overall, great job.

  17. quiet vast and intimate are working here for me. Deadly isn't making sense to me at the moment. But like the last person, I think you came up with a good solution by using the library setting in so many ways.
