The one below is the one I like but I perfer the squirrel in the first image.

  1. something is strange about the beak in the bottom one but otherwise I prefer it more. However the squirrel in the bottom one is a little too scratchy and the one in the top is almost unrecognizable. Try and find a happy medium between both of those squirrels and it will be awesome.

Maybe you'd even consider pushing a little detail in the pigeon with just a few back feathers? It would really make it pop and set it apart from the background.

  2. I like the pigeon in the bottom one, and I agree the beak needs to be reworked. I think the squirrel is a little hard to read so maybe just playing around with some different positive and negatives spaces in it.

  3. I think you should keep the bird black and the squirrel in high contrast and mostly white.

I would also try and have the hairs of the squirrel follow the contours of it's body, so that that way you can be more economic with them and stick closer to the goal of the assignment.

Finally have the sky go off the page, the cropping is kind of odd.

  4. I agree with Jessica, I think that if you put more detal on the feathers of the pigeon it will look better and have more volume. And maybe you could do the same with the squirrel.

  5. i think the only thing that you really need to sort out would be the squirrel. Honestly, it's really hard to tell what it is. Maybe have it's feet sticking up or omething so we can identify it as an animal?

Besides that I actually like the bottom image better. it has a really nice balance of black and white

  6. i think you could experiment more with how to make the fur on the squirrel fun to look at. i think lines is something you decided to do without really thinking about the other options. try out some shapes?

  7. the balance of black and white shapes looks great in both images, and i love the fluidity of the lines, even on the buildings. I don't know that I would have known that's a squirrel though unless you pointed it out. Concept-wise it's sort of hard to tell what's happening, or what's unexpected about it.

  8. I have to agree with everyone - definitely choose the bottom one. The contrast of the buildings with the pidgeon is much more dynamic. I think maybe part of the problem is you can't tell the difference between the squirrel and the wing that is gripping it? I think if you figure out how to make the texture believable you'll be set.
