I honestly spend a lot of time on it, even though it doesn't look like it at all. I sketched first and made many copies of the sketch and planed what layer goes first, and cut the each layers of sketch, draw it on colored paper, cut the colored paper and glued it on. I lost so many detailes, I think I should've made the sketch more simple and clear. Hate the colors, hate the shapes, hated the process, I hate evey single element of it.
i think that what is important about collage is to really focus on the shapes and the way they interact rather than the details, and i actually quite like this. I do wish maybe your colour pallette was a little more interesting, perhaps in the foreground was redder we would get a better feeling of the space. also where the character is seems a little busy, if you could eliminate some of the detail behind her i think it would benefit you
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good foundation. Now you can go in and paint overtop of the collage it make it beautiful.
ReplyDeletei don't know what i would have done if i'd be assigned landscape and collage, you're brave enough for tackling this like you did.
ReplyDeletei think your drawing is working well, its the color and value of the shapes thats hurting you. think about where the light is coming from... and then alter the color accordingly
I think its beautiful personally. I wish there were just hints more of that darkest dark paper throughout.
ReplyDeleteI would say this is definitely not as bad as you think it is. It has the start of a really beautiful piece, it just needs to be a little more realized. Like Justin said... it's a pretty tough combo to tackle. The basic color palette is really nice, like the brown, green, black, tan, red, but they're just too light and similar to each other right now. I also like the watercolor-y texture you gave the paper.
ReplyDeleteDude this is really awesome. I love your colors and shapes. Now I'd just go into the buildings a little more, so that they read clearer.
ReplyDeleteI love the abstractness of it and how you've isolated certain shapes on the right...the back cityscape (?) looks really great. The only part that's confusing for me is the large purple shape on the left...the pieces of tan paper at the bottom of it...I can't tell if they're behind the purple building b/c they're the same color as the background, or if they're in front of it, b/c the paper is glued on top...it just gets confusing.
