When I was thinking about Love, I thought of sincerity, childhood, and struggle, so my piece is a combination of those terms. And I'm planning to use watercolor and work on dramatic light and shadow to enhance the moment.

  1. This is so precious. I think this is gonna be great in watercolour as long as it doesn't get too muddy in the shadow areas.

  2. This is a really nice composition. Really cute characters. I may be the only one confused, but why exactly is he moving a rock? Really nice lighting and environment too.

  3. I'm not quite sure why he's moving a rock myself, but I do think the composition and lighting is very lovely. I think watercolor would be great for this. If you're thinking about doing small line work or details ever, I've found a size 1 or 2 brush works fine if you keep it clean and pointy. :)

  4. The sun glare is a cool main focus. I agree with Rachel and Trace as to why he's moving the rock, but I'm guessing it's to get up to her level to kiss her?

Regardless, very cute, and watercolor is a good choice.

  5. Is he moving the rocks so she can get across the river? Kind of like the concept of a man putting his jacket on a puddle so the woman won't get her shoes wet. I think once it is colored, it will be clearer that he is in the water. It could also help to put a pile of rocks on the other side of river, but I'm not sure.
    Very cute.

  8. I think this will be adorable. Your characters and environment are great, the shadows really set a mood.
Would love to see some warm tones in the watercolor to really give a fuzzy feeling to it.

  9. Yeah, Stacey is right, he is trying to move the rocks so that she can cross the water without getting wet.. Thank you for all the comments, each of them is very valuable :)

  10. This is so lovely! I was a little confused about the rock moving as well, but when you put in color it'll read fine. Well done!

  11. I would add more rocks to the boy's side to make it apparent he constructed a bridge. At the moment, the rocks are arranged in such a way that they could have naturally been in those spots, and he just hopped along until he got to a spot where he couldn't. Realistically it could work out that way, but making the boy's rock bridge look more deliberately constructed will make what he's doing with that rock much more clear.

  12. This is so adorable. I love the characters. The girl's expression says it all. I agree that the rock will make sense as soon as you add color.
