Valentine's Sketch

"'Til death do us...never mind."  My plan is to finish this piece in gouache.

  1. Zombies! I'm all for a zombie Valentines Day card.

I'd like for you to play up the idea of their gore and zombieness though. Really mess up their clothes a bit more and mutate them like Left 4 Dead or The Walking Dead.

Also, what is the environment around them? Are they walking in space? Are there other zombies around?

  2. Zombies are great. Where are they? What's happening around them? I would pay close attention to the tangent that's about the happen with her foot and the right edge of the border. It could be a distraction if they touch in the final, so just make sure there's a decent amount of distance between the two.

  3. (Just saw Ryan's comment: Def agree about playing up the gore and zombie-ness. Bring on the blooood)

  4. I think a way to make a clarity is to include a prominent light source. Nevertheless, I like the idea of zombies :)

  5. I agree with the comments made about including a setting. Although I might suggest that if you don't want to go intensive into a detailed background you could go for something more graphic.
Perhaps add some different shapes and colors with more gore to give it a different sort of feeling.
But I totally love this. :)

  6. I agree about adding a setting. Maybe you could add background elements create a more compelling composition.

  7. To make them look more like zombies, you should have their bones showing in some places.

  8. Even simply using tones for the background can make the piece go from an unfinished to finished look. Lay some masking fluid over the figures (assuming you plan on using watercolor of gouache) and blend some colors and tones to make a visually interesting backdrop.

  9. Exaggerate the deadness and broken bones. I think you can suggest a setting. Is it at night walking through an empty parking lot? Is it day time amongst a times square of zombies?
