Valentine Sketch - Trace Byrd

  1. This is so funny and I think it would work great on a card. :) Are you going to make this with watercolor/gouache?

The things I have to say are kinda nit-picky? But you might consider having the couple centered a bit more. You might also think about having some shadow beneath the objects for added depth.

I can't wait to see this once it's done :)

  2. Haha it reminds me of Pulp Fiction with the couple in the diner about to rob the joint. This is a fantastic idea. I would also agree on centering the couple more.

  3. This is great.

I agree with Rachel about bringing it to the next level with shadows under the objects.

The smaller bubbles around the corners are really nifty, they give a sense of animation to it.

  4. Really great! Having the thought bubble take up the majority of the image is a really smart move.

  5. This is so great! And you can do so much with color; it would be cool if you made the colors grisly to suit the theme, but even better if you made it light pink and happy and romantic to bring out the contrast even more.

  6. I really enjoy how my thoughts go back and forth between a murder and something a lot less sinister. It kind of makes you wonder...
But I agree with the thought bubble being large, it really works well with the spaced objects.

  7. I like the composition and the concept for the piece. I sort of what to see where they are even if its just a shadow underneath of them just to ground them

  8. The basic presentation of objects in a thought cloud representing an event is a decent concept... however, I think implied rape and murder doesn't really suit a Valentine's Day Card assignment.

  9. This is really well drawn and designed. I agree that the shadows would be nice to see. I just don't know about the concept. I would never guess this to be a Valentine's day card. I know that we're not supposed to depend on text, but if there was an inside to this what would it say?

"Happy Valentine's Day, don't get raped and murdered"
