  3. This looks like a pattern! Cool. I've never actually done one of those, but I agree that you should pay close attention to your spacing. You don't want this to start looking cluttered in your final. I'm also going to suggest the same thing I told Trace, but you might also think about adding a shadow beneath the different objects.

  4. This is so much fun to look and try to figure them all out. Can't wait to see it colored.

  5. This is very witty! I like the fact that you have to take a second to read into the images to understand their meaning. Looking forward to seeing these in color!

  7. Man, I really love these associations. They remind me of things in Kindergarten, but they're completely mature in they're meanings/connotations.
You should consider how you might present it in interesting ways. Perhaps you could cut them out into little squares and mount them on a single sheet, or keep them individually?
    Anywho, super witty.

  8. This took me a few seconds to get, but mainly because it looks like the camera's flash was on and it made it a little harder to read. The only thing I can think to add to the previous comments is to either make the canteen in the drinking and driving one to look more like a canteen (I read it as a gamsol container at first?) or replace it with a beer or wine bottle. Good luck!

  9. Ryan, why are you the cutest. I can't wait to see this in color. Were you thinking a limited color palate? because I think that would really work to pull the individual pieces together - it would kind of make it look like a print pattern or one of those repeatable screen prints....id buy that! I'd play with the spacing though, maybe you could place the object+object at a diagonal from another one rather than on a grid, that is if you were to make this look like a pattern/print - but it already kind of looks like a pattern/print so you mind as well go all the way or stick with a smaller number of pairs?

  11. The drawings are all very crisp and as a whole look like their ready to be colored as is.... however, I'm not sure how I feel about some of these associations within the context of this assignment. You have certainly avoided cliches, some of the latter of these have to do with suicide, mass murder, child abandonment, and reproductive abuse (poking a hole in a condom). None of those things bring love or positive feelings of any kind. It's almost emphasized by the fact that that all of those negative ideas are at the end, as if there were no more innocent couplings left and it suddenly got very dark.

It would be more appropriate if all the "dark couplings" in some way related to relationships (such as the baby) but some are just about violence and hate.

  12. This is really witty, and I was fooled for a bit. The cynical pairings are funny. I think because you have already established all of the cutesy ones, it's okay to get creative because overall the card still conveys, "We go together like". I think it works for Valentine's day because as I read it I take it as a joke, not a threat.
