Meg-- this is fantastic. Great Image; Great narrative... and yes, hopefully unexpected! Lots of wonderful details (the leg hair, the dots on the boxers, the "anatomy" in the boxers). Very nice. And great job using the full range of value in your final sketch. If you choose to pursue this one as a final, just make sure your lines in your architecture & stairs (and the ones that make your image shape) are straight! Also, maybe a little thinner/less "cartoony" outline-y lines in the face. (Just to vary your line weight). Nicely done.
The main concept of my sketch is a priest, or in this case the pope, giving a sermon but he's not wearing any pants... because I wouldn't expect that.
